Using GPIO ports can be really interesting in those circumstances in which there is the necessity to set different configurations or adjustments or to trigger commands just by closing a contact. In the following lines, you will find step by step the explanation about how to control, remotely from any GPI port of the digital matrix Digiline MX, the commands of the Multiplayer 3R
º- Connect both devices to the main supply and turn them on.
º- Connect the Digiline MX and the Multiplayer 3R between them through the serial ports. This connection will be made through a null-modem cable with DB9 male connectors in both sides.
º- Connect the Digiline MX to a PC which has WorkCAD installed through Ethernet.
º- Start WorkCAD. On the "Network" tab you will find the Digiline MX device. Double click it and then press over the "+" sign in order to add the device.
º- Once the Digiline MX has been added, click it to select it.
º- Select "Setup" on the "View" inside the "General" zone. In this area users can adjust the Baudrate of the 19200 serial port. Apply to save the changes.
º- Select "GPIs" on the "View" inside the "General" zone to set the configuration of the GPI ports. Select the GPI port that you want to work with.
º- Select ?RS232 Output Data? amont the ?Command List? of the drop-down menu.
º- In the "Value" field, set the command that you want to trigger preceded by the $ symbol. The command has to be written between inverted commas. In this example, it has been written $01 which works to send the command "play" to the Multiplayer 3R.
º- Click on the "+" button to add it . Then click "Save" to save the changes.
º- If you trigger the GPI 1 of the Multiplayer 3R, it will play.
